I aimed to investigate the conversation between the structured, translucent canvas of glass and the organic floral shapes in my sculpture, “Blossoming Interpretations.”
Process:
I wanted to make a sculpture that emphasized the strong, reflective properties of glass. I aimed to capture the delicate beauty of lily pod flowers. I carefully shaped and arranged the pink and dark green lily pod parts to create an eye-catching composition.
I created an illusion of floating within the speckled blue background, akin to a lily in a pond. Glass presented some challenges to me, as I had to consider how the material would refract and deform the shapes when fused together. However, I also needed to provide a background contrast that would enhance the overall composition. To achieve the desired balance, I had to experiment with the form and placement of the flowers.
